Many players are contemplating whether the Ultimate Edition of Grand Theft Auto VI is worth the additional $20 over the Standard Edition, which is priced at $79.99. Reports indicate that nearly 90 percent of pre-orders are for the Ultimate Edition, priced at $99.99, suggesting a strong preference among players for the premium offering.

According to multiple sources, including Engadget, the Ultimate Edition includes exclusive locations and side missions, such as five shops: Rideout Customs, Sara's Unisex Salon, Stock 305 clothing store, One-Eyed Willie's off-road mod shop, and Electric Fang Tattoo Parlor. Additionally, it features side missions like the PTT Youngin$ Compound raid and the Classic Car Collection restoration jobs.

The Ultimate Edition also boasts three exclusive vehicles: the reimagined '95 Grotti Cheetah, a Shitzu Squalo jet ski equipped with explosives, and the '67 Vapid Dominator Buggy. Players will receive the Hawk & Little Morgan Revolvers, weapon skins, and outfit packs as part of the premium package.

Despite the allure of these extras, some community members suggest that unless the additional content is particularly appealing, it might be wise to save the extra $20. Players can upgrade to the Ultimate Edition post-launch if they decide they want the added features.

Interestingly, Rockstar has stated that the bonuses in the Ultimate Edition are not simply available from day one; instead, they will be 'threaded' throughout the game and revealed as players progress through the story.

What This Means

The overwhelming interest in the Ultimate Edition reflects the anticipation surrounding GTA 6, which is expected to be one of the biggest game launches of all time. With nearly 5 million pre-orders for the digital download shortly after the Netflix Extended Look, the game's popularity is evident.

The significant percentage of players opting for the Ultimate Edition could indicate a shift in consumer behavior, as typically, premium editions see a much lower uptake. Sensor Tower's SVP, Karl Kontus, noted that a typical premium edition might attract only 10 to 20 percent of pre-orders, making the 90 percent figure for GTA 6 particularly noteworthy.
