Start the pre-load on November 12
Open the game in your PlayStation Store library on November 12 and start the download — you can play the moment it unlocks.
Free up storage space
Rockstar has not published the download size. A leaker's claim of about 200GB is unconfirmed, so plan for at least that much free space. An original 825GB PS5 has about 667GB usable; newer models have more.
Install the latest system update
Settings → System → System Software → System Software Update. A pending update can stop a new game from starting.
Let it download while the console sleeps
Settings → System → Power Saving → Features Available in Rest Mode → turn on Stay Connected to the Internet. The pre-load and the day-one patch then finish overnight.
Know when it unlocks for you
Store listings show a rolling unlock at local midnight on November 19. Rockstar has only confirmed the date.

FAQ
How big is the GTA 6 download?
Rockstar has not published the download size. A leaker has claimed about 200GB, which is unconfirmed — freeing at least that much space before pre-load is the safe option.
Can I pre-load GTA 6?
Yes, if you pre-ordered digitally: Rockstar says pre-loading opens on November 12, 2026, one week before release.
Is there a disc in the boxed version of GTA 6?
Reports say boxed copies contain a download code rather than a disc. Redeem the code on the PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store and the game downloads like a digital copy.
Which GTA 6 edition should I buy?
Standard ($79.99) is the complete game. Ultimate ($99.99) has the same story plus extra in-game items.
