'GTA 6' is reportedly sold out on Amazon, despite being a digital-only game, according to Mashable. As of Monday morning, both the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions were listed as 'currently unavailable.' However, the PS5 version has since returned to stock.
Several Reddit users claim that if players haven't secured a pre-order for Grand Theft Auto VI, Amazon may not be the best option. The situation is particularly puzzling since the game will not ship on a disc, leading to questions about how a digital-only title could sell out.
Mashable reached out to Amazon for clarification on GTA 6 inventory and restocks ahead of the November 19 release. The fine print on Amazon's store page indicates that pre-ordering from Amazon or another physical retailer will provide a box for the game, but it will only contain a download code instead of a disc. This suggests that Amazon has temporarily run out of Xbox boxes with download codes.
What This Means
For players looking to pre-order GTA 6, it is still possible to do so directly from the Xbox digital storefront on consoles, bypassing the need for a physical box. Additionally, pre-orders are available on the Rockstar Games website, including the $99.99 'Ultimate Edition.'
