According to several community reports, the price of GTA 6 is set at $79.99, which is higher than the standard pricing for video games. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has confirmed that this price point will remain for the foreseeable future, indicating that players should not expect any immediate discounts.
Players are reportedly pre-ordering the $100 Ultimate Edition of GTA 6 in significant numbers, showcasing high demand despite the higher cost. Zelnick described the pre-orders as 'unprecedented and astonishing,' although he cautioned that it remains unclear whether these pre-orders will translate into actual sales once the game is released.
Zelnick noted that while storefronts can offer discounts, it would impact their margin on sales rather than Take-Two's pricing strategy. He stated, 'We establish our pricing, and then storefronts can do what they wish.' He also acknowledged that while GTA 6 will eventually go on sale in the future, consumers hoping for a price drop shortly after its release on November 19 should be prepared to wait several years.
The reports suggest that GTA 6 has bucked the usual trend with its pricing, being $10 more than what players typically expect. Zelnick's comments imply that the company is maintaining its pricing strategy similar to that of Grand Theft Auto 5, which saw its price preserved for an extended period.
