Several reports indicate that Grand Theft Auto VI is set to launch on November 19, but players on Xbox Series S may face a subpar experience compared to PS5 users. Rockstar Games has emphasized that GTA VI is designed to be 'best on PS5,' leading to concerns about performance disparities on Xbox consoles.
The marketing partnership with PlayStation is already in effect, showcasing unique features of the DualSense controller. According to a post on the PlayStation Blog, the controller's haptic feedback and adaptive triggers will enhance gameplay, providing responsive vibrations and dynamic resistance.
Insider Remigiusz Maciaszek has claimed in a podcast that the Xbox Series S may be limited to 30fps, while both the PS5 and Xbox Series X are expected to target 60fps. This follows a trend where many recent titles have locked framerates on the Series S, raising questions about its performance capabilities.
Concerns have also arisen over the pre-order process for GTA VI, which has launched without any raw gameplay footage. Players are particularly frustrated by the 'code in a box' method for physical copies, which some retailers have refused to stock, impacting game preservation efforts.
In terms of pricing, the Standard Edition of GTA VI will retail for £69.99 / $79.99, while the Ultimate Edition will cost £89.99 / $99.99. The Ultimate Edition includes exclusive story content and missions, which has sparked some backlash among potential buyers.
What This Means
The focus on PS5 features and the potential performance issues on Xbox Series S could influence purchasing decisions among gamers. As pre-orders begin, the lack of gameplay footage may deter some players from committing to a purchase, especially with the controversial pricing structure.
