Reports suggest that the PS5 version of Grand Theft Auto VI is outselling the Xbox version at an eight-to-one ratio, according to IGN. Microsoft has denied these numbers, but if IGN's readership reflects broader gaming trends, there appears to be a significant preference for the PS5 version.
The only official gameplay footage released so far comes from a 26-minute extended look on Netflix, which was captured on PS5. Sony has claimed that GTA VI will 'play best on PS5' due to the console's immersive features, although specific details on performance enhancements have not been disclosed.
Digital Foundry has described GTA VI as possibly 'the most impressive example of real-time game rendering' they have encountered. While the power difference between the PS5 and Xbox Series X is minimal, expectations are that both versions will perform comparably.
However, there are concerns regarding frame rates. Reports indicate that the game may not ship with a 60 frames per second mode, which could affect gameplay experience on both consoles. The Xbox Series S, being a less powerful console, may run the game at lower resolution and settings, but specific details on its performance remain unconfirmed.
As the launch date approaches, more information about the technical specifications for both platforms is anticipated.
