Community reports suggest that Rockstar is working with Nintendo to bring a version of Grand Theft Auto 6 to the Nintendo Switch 2. According to TweakTown, the technical hurdles for this port have reportedly been overcome, allowing for a technically optimized version of the game to be developed for the handheld console.

While the port is not expected to launch this year, it aims to leverage the portability of the Switch 2, similar to scalability efforts seen with the Xbox Series S version of the game. The Switch 2 is powered by a custom NVIDIA chip with an Ampere GPU, which is somewhat comparable to the GeForce RTX 3050. Developers have successfully demonstrated that PS5-era games can run on the Switch 2, delivering an impressive portable experience.

Nash Weedle, who previously reported on the development of a GTA 6 port for the Switch 2, stated that Nintendo specialists have been brought in to assist Rockstar with the project. The same post indicated that Rockstar is already working on a visually scaled-down version of the game for the Xbox Series S, suggesting that scalability is integrated into the game's engine.

If Grand Theft Auto 6 were to make its way to the Nintendo Switch 2, it would represent a significant technical achievement and could be a massive success, particularly due to the console's portable nature. The idea of playing GTA 6 while commuting or traveling has generated excitement among fans.
