According to GAMINGbible, there are five countries where GTA 6 could potentially be banned from release. While no country has officially banned the game yet, the situation remains fluid as the release date approaches.
The most prominent country currently facing restrictions is Russia. Although Steam and the Epic Games Store still operate there, the availability of content is limited compared to other regions. Various publishers, including Rockstar Games, have withdrawn their titles from these platforms in Russia, complicating access to GTA 6, which is a digital-only release.
Other countries that have previously banned or modified versions of the Grand Theft Auto series include Qatar, Kuwait, China, and Taiwan. While attitudes towards mature games are reportedly more relaxed now, the potential for bans remains a concern.
In Australia, some gamers may experience restricted access due to age verification checks. However, GTA 6 is confirmed to release in the UK, the USA, Canada, the UAE, and Australia, among others.
With the release date set for November 19, 2023, many gamers are hopeful that their countries will not impose bans, allowing for broader access to one of the year's most anticipated titles.
