Community Reports
As the gaming community anticipates the release of Grand Theft Auto VI, several reports have surfaced regarding an upcoming rival game. Samson: A Tyndalston Story, which has drawn comparisons to the GTA series, is set to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S tomorrow, September 21, 2026. This release comes just eight weeks before the highly anticipated launch of GTA VI, which has generated significant hype.
Originally released on PC in April, Samson received mixed reviews due to design flaws and performance issues. However, Liquid Swords, the game's developer, has since released multiple updates to enhance the experience. These updates have included bug fixes, quality-of-life improvements, and new features, addressing many of the initial concerns players had.
The console version will feature two graphical modes: a 30fps Quality Mode and a 60fps Performance Mode on both PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. The PS5 Pro will offer higher visual quality, while the Xbox Series S will target 30fps with a single graphical mode.
Liquid Swords has also announced that the console launch will coincide with the game's 'biggest update' to date, which aims to improve the experience for both new and returning players. While the developer has hinted at the possibility of additional story content in the future, they have not confirmed any specific plans.
Samson has been noted as a decent alternative for players looking for open-world experiences while they wait for GTA VI. Previous reports have mentioned other titles like Watch Dogs 2 and Sleeping Dogs as potential substitutes, but Samson's recent updates may make it a more appealing option.
