Recent reports indicate that Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to embrace a darker tone, focusing heavily on themes of blood, drugs, and mayhem. A PEGI rating, which was briefly published before being removed, allegedly provided detailed insights into the game's adult content.
According to the now-deleted PEGI description, GTA 6 is expected to include 'strong graphic violence, strong sexual themes, and use of illegal drugs.' The violence is described as realistic, potentially featuring graphic decapitations and dismemberments caused by various weapons.
Drug use is reportedly 'frequent and prominent,' allowing players to carry illegal substances in their inventory and consume them directly. Notably, the rating claims that cocaine can be ingested directly from the player's hand at any time.
The PEGI listing also mentioned scenes of intercourse, sexual fetishes, and interactive private dances at nightclubs, where players can pay for and engage with performers. This suggests a more immersive adult experience within the expansive open world of GTA 6.
While none of this content is surprising for the Grand Theft Auto series, the level of detail in the PEGI rating implies that GTA 6 could be more explicit and mechanically involved than its predecessors.
The broader context is supported by other ratings, with the ESRB officially rating GTA 6 as Mature 17+ for blood and gore, intense violence, nudity, strong sexual content, and drug and alcohol use. Additionally, Australia’s classification board has given the game an R18+ rating for high-impact violence, sex scenes, and drug use.
Despite the removal of the PEGI page, the reported content aligns with the franchise's established identity, which often revolves around violence, sex, drugs, and morally questionable choices. Rockstar appears to be pushing the boundaries of adult content in GTA 6, scheduled for release on November 19, 2026.
