GTA VI continues to face leaks ahead of its gameplay premiere. According to reports from The Verge, clips purportedly showing gameplay have emerged online, raising concerns about spoilers before Rockstar Games' deep dive, set to debut on Netflix next week.
Multiple clips have surfaced, with one featuring a scene of Jason, one of the game's protagonists, shooting a basketball. Another clip showcased typical crime-focused gameplay, including Duval attacking a character with a wrench and the return of the six-star Wanted system.
A third clip, currently available online, depicts Duval driving at night, engaging in combat, using a taser, and stealing a truck. This clip also transitions to what appears to be a cutscene from a different part of the game during the daytime.
These videos were watermarked by a group identifying themselves as 'CyberLeek,' which included a call for viewers to purchase a CyberLeek cryptocurrency. The third clip also featured a QR code and links to dubious CyberLeek URLs, along with a statement referencing Rockstar's decision not to release GTA VI on physical discs.
This is not the first instance of GTA VI footage leaking; in 2022, 90 videos were leaked online prior to the game's official reveal. A teen involved in those leaks was subsequently sentenced to life in a secure hospital.
Earlier this year, Rockstar confirmed that it had experienced a data breach through a third-party provider but stated that the incident would not impact the company or its players. Rockstar and its parent company, Take-Two, did not respond to requests for comment regarding the latest leaks.
The GTA VI 'extended look' is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on August 27th at 3 PM ET, with a YouTube stream following at 9 PM ET. The game is set to launch on November 19th, a date that has prompted other publishers to avoid releasing major titles in the same month.
