The guidelines, leaked during a recent episode of the Broken Silicon podcast, outline the requirements for a game to receive a PlayStation 5 Pro Enhanced tag. These criteria include demonstrating a maximum resolution ceiling or utilizing Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) to achieve higher frame rates without raising the base target. Games that do not meet these benchmarks may not qualify for the Enhanced tag.
While Rockstar Games has not confirmed specifics about the PlayStation 5 Pro version of GTA VI, the developer has promised to provide more information in the future. The secrecy surrounding this version has led to speculation that the game could be limited to 30 FPS until a PC version is released, which is rumored to arrive sooner than expected.
Industry analysts suggest that achieving a stable 60 FPS in such a complex open-world game may be challenging due to the PlayStation 5 Pro's modest CPU improvements over the base model. Reports indicate that the AMD Zen 2 CPU in the Pro version offers only a 10% clock speed increase, making it difficult to support higher frame rates without sacrificing graphical fidelity.
