Recent reports indicate that a leaker known as Cyberleek has been sharing short gameplay clips of Grand Theft Auto VI. These clips are said to provide the first glimpses of gameplay from the highly anticipated title.
In a legal move, Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, has filed subpoenas against Microsoft and Discord in an effort to uncover the identity of the leaker. The subpoenas cite 'stolen content,' suggesting that at least some of the leaked videos are legitimate.
As of now, Cyberleek has released several clips and screenshots that purportedly showcase various aspects of GTA 6, including the game’s map and cut scenes. Notably, the leaker has avoided posting major plot spoilers so far.
Among the leaked content, one clip reportedly shows a character named Jason flying a plane over Vice City, while another features a healing drug called Zombix, with a tooltip indicating its effects will weaken over time if overused.
While the authenticity of these clips cannot be verified, they appear to align with the expected style of a modern Rockstar game, as noted by several observers. However, the rise of AI-generated videos posing as leaks complicates the situation.
Cyberleek is also reportedly running polls on its website, allowing users to pay in cryptocurrency to vote on what should be leaked next. Meanwhile, official gameplay footage is set to debut on Netflix on August 27.
As of now, Rockstar and Take-Two have not commented on the leaks, aside from the subpoenas filed last week. Mashable has reached out for further information and will provide updates if a response is received.
