According to a third-party research company, GTA 6 has reportedly generated more than $400 million in revenue from preorders. Sensor Tower’s sales GTA VI Tracker indicates that Rockstar sold approximately 4.38 million copies through August 18, resulting in an estimated $429 million in revenue. The sales mix is reported to be 77% for PS5 and 23% for Xbox Series X|S.
Preorders for the game began on June 25, with the standard edition priced at $80 and the Ultimate Edition at $100. Take-Two, Rockstar's parent company, stated that preorder numbers for GTA 6 are unprecedented in the video game industry, although they did not disclose an official figure. Notably, the $100 edition is reportedly seeing more preorders than the standard version.
Analysts suggest that GTA 6 could achieve up to 25 million preorders by launch, potentially generating around $2 billion in revenue. This figure could cover the game's development budget and a significant portion of its marketing expenses.
GTA 6's marketing campaign is expected to ramp up with the trailer set to debut on August 27. The game is slated for release on November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
