The Australian Government's workplace regulator, The Fair Work Ombudsman, has released a graphic aimed at helping workers understand their rights regarding taking time off when GTA 6 launches in November. The graphic humorously poses scenarios for employees who may not have paid leave available for the game's release.
One example from the graphic suggests, 'Let’s pretend GTA 6 is coming out tomorrow, but you don’t have any paid leave available to play on GTA VI Release Date.' It raises questions about the possibility of taking unpaid leave, noting that the National Employment Standards allow for such leave under specific circumstances.
While valid reasons for unpaid leave include being a carer or assisting in emergencies, the graphic humorously points out that these do not apply to playing a video game. It suggests that employees could simply ask their bosses for time off, with the implication that a friendly boss might grant such requests.
The graphic features tongue-in-cheek imagery, such as a loved one in a hospital bed with a copy of GTA 6 instead of a head, and an ultrasound display showing GTA 6 in the section about children. This lighthearted approach reflects the massive anticipation surrounding the game's release.
Community discussions highlight that no other game will match the hype surrounding GTA 6, which is predicted to break records with an estimated $5.2 billion in revenue during its launch week.
